“It is in Hungary’s strategic interest to cooperate as closely as possible with Canada, as it is the world’s second largest country in terms of area, with vast untapped natural resources and energy potential,” according to a statement issued by Levente Magyar, Parliamentary State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade in Toronto.
Following the talks, the deputy minister reported that Canada is an important partner for Hungary, and that Hungary maintains close relations within Canada, particularly with the province of Ontario, as it is the most populous and economically strongest province in the country.
Based on his statement, he held talks primarily on the possibilities of deepening bilateral energy cooperation, including with Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Mines.
This primarily concerns nuclear technologies, as they have developed technologies and innovations that are unique in the world, and for Hungary, as a country that sees a serious future in nuclear energy and wants to tie our country to nuclear energy as much as possible, these are extremely noteworthy,”
he emphasized.
Levente Magyar stated that the parties will continue negotiations on what specific projects they can implement jointly in the coming period.
