PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will undertake a State Visit to China from 5 to 11 July 2026 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, with the trip expected to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, industrialisation and strategic development sectors while reinforcing the long-standing Namibia–China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The Presidency said the visit underscores the strong and enduring ties between Namibia and China, built on mutual respect and shared development goals, and comes at a time when Namibia is advancing its economic transformation agenda through industrialisation, value addition, energy security, skills development and expanded investment partnerships.
During the visit, President Nandi-Ndaitwah will hold high-level talks with President Xi Jinping, senior Chinese government and Communist Party leaders, as well as provincial authorities in Guangdong, Shenzhen, Sichuan and Beijing. Discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in areas including trade and investment, mining and mineral beneficiation, manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure, digital innovation, public health, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
As part of the programme, the President will also tour major Chinese industrial and innovation facilities, including companies in electronics, telecommunications, renewable energy and nuclear energy, to explore opportunities for technology transfer and partnerships aligned with Namibia’s development priorities.
She is further expected to participate in the Namibia–China High-Level Trade and Investment Conference, which will bring together government and business leaders from both countries to explore new investment opportunities, strengthen commercial ties and promote Namibian products in the Chinese market.
Namibia and China continue to maintain strong economic relations, with China remaining Namibia’s largest overall trading partner. Bilateral trade reached N$40.64 billion in 2025, while trade for the first four months of 2026 stood at N$14.79 billion, reflecting continued strong momentum despite a trade structure still heavily dominated by mineral exports.
The visit will also build on cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and outcomes of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), with both countries expected to advance collaboration in infrastructure, housing, energy, water, education and healthcare, alongside broader commitments to South-South cooperation and global governance reform.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah will be accompanied by Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and representatives of the Namibian business community. She is scheduled to depart on 4 July 2026 and return on 12 July 2026.
