AI platform launched to accelerate U.S. nuclear construction

Palantir Technologies and The Nuclear Company have announced a strategic partnership to launch a first-of-its-kind AI-powered software platform designed to streamline and modernize nuclear power plant construction across the U.S.

Built on Palantir’s Foundry platform, the Nuclear Operating System (NOS) is designed to transform nuclear reactor projects, historically plagued by cost overruns and scheduling delays, into fast, predictable and cost-effective infrastructure efforts.

The platform brings real-time data integration and AI-driven decision-making to all aspects of nuclear construction, including scheduling, supply chain, site management and regulatory compliance.

NOS promises four core benefits:

  • Schedule Certainty: Palantir said construction teams would receive real-time, context-aware instructions, adjusting for constraints such as part availability or weather delays.
  • Cost Savings: A smart supply chain system would minimize shipment errors and material shortages, while adjusting workflows to avoid downtime.
  • Problem Prevention: Sensors and digital twin models would track construction progress against plans, using predictive analytics to catch issues early.
  • Regulatory Confidence: Large language models and AI agents would expedite documentation and compliance tasks, reducing delays in oversight and approval.

The launch is the latest in Palantir’s “Warp Speed” initiative and comes amid renewed interest in nuclear as a critical clean energy source and national security priority. President Trump recently called for 400 GW of new nuclear capacity by 2050.

The companies will deploy a dedicated engineering team embedded at The Nuclear Company, integrating siloed data from across the construction and regulatory landscape.

The Nuclear Co. came out of stealth mode almost a year ago, with ambitious plans to develop a 6 GW nuclear fleet by the mid-2030s. The company would work as a project developer, collaborating with private equity, hyperscalers, utilities, independent power producers and nuclear technology suppliers to execute fleet-scale projects.

“With Palantir, we have a technology partner who shares our sense of urgency and understands that nuclear isn’t just an energy issue — it’s a national security imperative,” said Jonathan Webb, Founder and CEO of The Nuclear Company. “NOS is how we finally break the cycle of delays, deliver a new energy future, and protect America’s nuclear leadership from China, so we don’t lose it like we did manufacturing decades ago.”
