Aziz Dag, Managing Director of Westinghouse Electric Sweden, in an official letter to the NNEGC, emphasized that Westinghouse will be able to supply its fuel if Khmelnytskyi NPP units 3 & 4 are completed and equipment from the Bulgarian Belene NPP is installed.
“Westinghouse confirms the possibility of providing a compatible fuel design in time for the first and subsequent cycles of KhNPP-3 and KhNPP-4 based on the V-466B reactor design. With respect to time schedule of the NPP project we recommend opening the discussion on technical details and defining the scope for fuel design review and implementation in the near future,” the letter says.
In addition, the safety analysis report provided by the experts states that the VVER-1000 V-466V core consists of 163 TWZ-A fuel assemblies. This type of fuel assembly has long been used in the cores of VVER-1000 reactors successfully operated in Ukraine.
Thus, Westinghouse has debunked manipulative statements by pseudo-experts about the impossibility of using US fuel at the Belene NPP in Bulgaria, which Ukraine plans to purchase from Sofia.
Trust official sources and professional comments of world-renowned experts, ignoring the expert’s statements far from the nuclear industry.
