SE NNEGC «Energoatom» and T.CCO have signed an agreement which was the last necessary step for the implementation of the program for the use of Ukrainian uranium in the production of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants in Ukraine.

This is the «Agreement for weighing, sampling, storage, analysis and transportation of uranium oxide concentrate» (UOC) produced by SE “SkhidGZK» which was signed in Canada on April 11, 2023 by Energoatom President Petro Kotin and CAMECO President and CEO Tim Gitzel in the presence of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

The document regulates physical delivery of UOC from Ukraine to Canada and related terms. In particular, the agreement provides for the supply of the entire quantity of uranium mined in SkhidGZK to Canada and the further use of the uranium concentrate for the conversion and supply of natural uranium hexafluoride (UF6) for enrichment.

Petro Kotin is convinced that this is «a landmark event for the Ukrainian nuclear industry, it guarantees its stability and, as a result, a stable supply of electricity to citizens.» And he states that the conclusion of the agreement gives the green light to the practical implementation of previously signed contracts between the companies.

Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko noted the importance of the agreement for the stability of the national energy front.

Reminder On March 19, 2023 in London, Energoatom and CAMECO, with the participation of Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko, signed agreements to ensure a stable supply of uranium for the production of nuclear fuel.
