Net Zero Nuclear Strengthens Its Push for Tripling Nuclear Capacity with T.CCO as Strategic Partner for 2025

Cameco, one of the world’s largest providers of uranium fuel, has joined Net Zero Nuclear as a strategic partner for 2025. Net Zero Nuclear is a global initiative calling for a tripling in nuclear energy by 2050, to provide the clean and reliable energy that is essential for energy security, decarbonization, the technology revolution and human development.

In the lead-up to COP30 hosted by Brazil later this year, Net Zero Nuclear will convene political and industry leaders for a results-oriented dialogue grounded in data and solutions. This dialogue aims to accelerate the global expansion of nuclear power and research and development in advanced nuclear technologies.

Speaking about the latest strategic partnership World Nuclear Association Director-General, Dr Sama Bilbao y León, said:

“World Nuclear Association warmly welcomes Cameco back to this initiative. Cameco’s support since 2023 has been invaluable in raising the profile of how nuclear plays an essential role in creating 24/7 clean energy to power development, prosperity, and energy access for all. Collaboration is absolutely key to achieving our goal of ensuring a greater use of nuclear in the clean energy mix. With Cameco on board, we will continue our mission to bring about the changes necessary for a sustainable future. As we approach #COP30, we will continue to collaborate with government, industry leaders, and civil society to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.”

Cameco President and CEO, Tim Gitzel, said: “Cameco is proud to continue our support of Net Zero Nuclear, an initiative that is highlighting the vital importance of tripling global nuclear capacity by 2050. Through this initiative, Cameco is collaborating with government and industry leaders on ways to enable the swift expansion of nuclear power generation around the globe and provide carbon-free baseload energy to help meet rising electrical demand.”

Cameco’s strategic partnership signifies strong industry backing for Net Zero Nuclear and builds on Cameco’s previous support in 2023 and 2024.
