A special governmental commission for the construction of a nuclear power plant is set to be established in Kazakhstan, Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
A special governmental commission is to be established to launch an open competitive dialogue among all participants of the competition process. Preliminary consultations have already begun. Meetings and visits to China and South Korea took place. We’re already discussing in advance the areas of focus, we seek from our potential vendors, including cost of electricity, construction cost, guarantees that the construction is completed on schedule and within budget, as well as security issues, the entire social package, financing issues and localization of fuel production, in particular, said Satkaliyev.
According to him, within the dialogue, the commission is to prepare suggestions for the government to address this issue at the Energy Council under the Kazakh President.
The minister added that consultants in the financial and economic bloc, legal and technical issues are to be engaged.
To note, 71.12% of Kazakhstanis voted for the construction of a nuclear power plant during the nation-wide referendum on October 6.
