Uzbekistan’s Uranium production has increased by 12 percent in the first six months of this year, according to the press service of the state-owned enterprise “Navoiyuran” of Uzbekistan, the country’s sole enterprise for uranium mining.
According to its website, the enterprise’s uranium production increased by 112 percent compared to the same period last year. In monetary terms, this indicator for the reporting period amounted to 4.9 trillion soums (about 388 million U.S. dollars), which is 12.3 percent more than last year.
In addition, the net profit of the enterprise increased by 55 percent to 19 thousand soums. During the reporting period, the company attracted investments worth 48.5 million U.S. dollars.
In late May, Uzbekistan and Russia signed an agreement on the construction of a small nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
The plant’s total capacity will be 330 MW, consisting of six reactors with a capacity of 55 MW each. Rosatom, a Russian state corporation, will act as the general contractor for the construction. Local companies will also be involved. ■
