UK’s Conservatives promise nuclear power expansion in election manifesto

Britain’s governing Conservatives promised to scale up nuclear power to bolster the country’s energy security, including through two new fleets of small modular reactors and a gigawatt power plant in North Wales, if they win the upcoming election.

In a manifesto, outlining its policy plans ahead of the July 4 election, the Conservative Party said on Tuesday the steps would help Britain become a net exporter of electricity.
