PARIS, March 7 (Reuters) – French state controlled utility EDF said on Wednesday that its nuclear power output rose 8 percent year-on-year in February to 36.4 terrawatt-hour (TWh) compared with the same month a year ago.
EDF, which operates France’s 58 nuclear reactors, said its production was penalised last year by unplanned outages due to additional safety controls on steam generators at nuclear reactors.
The company said cumulative nuclear power generation so far for 2018 was at 77.2 TWh, up 4 percent compared with the same period a year ago.
Its nuclear power output in the United Kingdom fell 5.8 percent in February to 4.9 TWh, while total output for 2018 was down 6.6 percent compared with the same period a year ago.
