Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev met with the representative of the National Agency for the Atomic Energy of China, the press service of the Kazakh Energy Ministry said on 18 September, adding that Bozumbayev supported the proposal of the Chinese side to purchase export volumes of Kazakh products to meet the needs of China’s nuclear energy.
The parties also discussed an increase in uranium supply and the beginning of Kazatomprom supply of fuel assemblies for Chinese nuclear power plants in next year.
Kazakh and Chinese companies are cooperating in the supply of fuel pellets to China and in the joint construction in Kazakhstan of a plant for the production of nuclear fuel for China’s nuclear power plants.
